Reply with quote | #105 | Hi .. It's 5 AM and I should be asleep but .. I, too am a musician .. so there you have it.... this IS the end of my day .. I'm new here but I must say .. whatever / whomever directed me to this site.. I thank you! I have at least 20 years of catching up to do so I won't say much right now .. just reading everything and absorbing! I will say this .. I was in a Target in Monroe, NY having a near panic attack (don't like that sort of store much!) .. so I wandered over to the music section looking for anything I could find to soothe my nerves perhaps .. there it was .. "Simon & Garfunkel: The Essentials" .. I knew instantly that this would cure my panic .. with all the red bulls-eyes in my face! It was the only thing I bought .. (besides a new coffee maker .. the cats finally broke the old carafe while playing a bit rough one day !) This collection is a 2 CD set and I had it in the player before I made it out of the parking lot! It's been there ever since.. OK .. about a month or two! I'm mesmerized .. I can't believe that I haven't heard this stuff in at least 20 years.. what was I doing instead?? Well .. this is the cool thing about rediscovery .. it's NEW all over again .. but I'm older and hear things that I didn't hear the first time around (also digitally .. things pop out that I never heard on vinyl. Incredible stuff.. So anyway.. I am just saying, "Hello!" I am really inspired by this forum .. thank you for having me and thank Art Garfunkel for his angelic voice. I'll have to really study the fav 3 on each solo album subject .. it's a good exercise! So very hard for me to choose favorites .. but.. I'll do my best!
Cheers! and keep the chatter going.. it's grand!

Reply with quote | #111 | Thanks or the warm welcome to this forum and thanks for the compliment, as well! Which song are you referring to, Jamie? The only one with a name in it is Jacqueline. . words by my astrologer pal in Dublin, Matthew O'Dowd .. I put the chords and changes to it, although he had a melody to start with. Great writer as well as Vedic Astrologer! Anyway ... He wrote this song about Marriane Faithful! Cool song.. I liked it so much that I worked it out and recorded it ..
Thanks again! Beki (still reading and trying to choose my favorites!) __________________ --

Hi, guys! My sister Laura in New York has a special request from all you Art Garfunkel fans. She is 48, and is single and lives alone with her female cat, Tiger Lily, in Saugerties, New York. She smokes cigarettes and drinks tea and has no computer and doesn't get out a lot and would love to communicate with other Art Garfunkel fans. She would love to hear from anyone, even internationally. You guys are great, thank you! Suzanne in Oregon. |

Suzanne, it might not be such a good to put her phone number and address on this board - perhaps you should PM us with it. __________________ There's a dream where the contents are visible, where the poetic champions compose, will you breathe not a word of this secrecy .... |

I agree with Marcia - I sent you a PM Suzanne, and took the liberty of removing the phone number and address from the forum. Everyone who wants to contact Laura, please send Suzanne or me a Private Message.

Reply with quote | #117 | Could not figure where to post-just been looking at pictures on the bodo site- http://www.paul-simon.info --go to "main" at top, then "pictures" First I hit "all new" preview - on the 2 row, 4 picture over-I could not get over the height difference between them-must be an awkward phot angle? 3 row, 2 picture over a new shot for me of Art at recording console- also on picture page, if you scroll down to S&G there are some cute shots- |

Hi Tira-it is a B&W picture of Paul & Art in a recording studio- Paul standing holding a mask (I think) in front of his face and Art sitting in front of a console with numerous knobs |

Reply with quote | #121 | Hi guys! My registration just got accepted & I'm proud to be member of this Beautiful board
Been listening to S&G since 1991... Got all Pauls solo CDs in the following years. Never thought Arts albums would be any classics, so I never bothered to pick them up... But I could'nt have been more wrong. A friend of mine played Arts "Angel Clare" at a party, and I've been Mad for Mr Garfunkels music ever since
Last year I saw him live... Amazing. Such a big voice on a small stage! |

Reply with quote | #133 | Hello to everyone. My name is Carole and I live in Arizona, USA. I've been reading this site for a while now and finally decided to join. A friend of mine who is a member here told me about your wonderful site. I think one of the best things about it is how international it is ... there are people from all over the world. It's nice to meet you all!
I have loved Simon&Garfunkel since I was 5 years old, which was in 1970. My parents were big fans and their music was frequently playing in our house while I was growing up. My two daughters, who are 20, are also fans. And I actually met Paul Simon once, quite by accident. That was a thrill!
I don't really have much to contribute, but I wanted to say hi and tell you how much I enjoy your site |

Thank you all for your warm welcome. As far as meeting Paul goes, I have told the story so many times that everyone who knows me is tired of hearing it .. lol. But my goodness, how often do you meet Paul Simon? I was in the San Francisco Bay Area visiting my family, and I had taken my nephew into the city to a small guitar shop near Union Square. This was in 1992 or 1993. My nephew loved guitars and in fact a few days previous he had showed me a little Paul Simon lick that he had learned. We'd been in the shop a few minutes when nephew said he needed to go back to the car for a minute, so I wandered around by myself looking at the guitars. There were only a few people in the shop, and there was a gentleman sitting with his back to me off in the corner, playing. He was quite good, so I quietly walked over to listen. Yep, you guessed it. It was Paul Simon. I recognized him immediately, of course. He continued playing for a few minutes, and then we chatted for a short while before he had to leave. He seemed like a very nice man. We talked about San Francisco and about raising children. His youngest was a year old at the time, if I remember correctly, and he laughed when I told him about my twins, who were then three. I did get his autograph. The only thing I had for him to sign was the used boarding pass for my flight to San Francisco, which I was still carrying in my purse. I still have it, in fact. When my nephew got back, he was quite upset that he missed seeing Paul Simon. |

That's a great story Carole ! It must have been Adrian he was referring to - he would have been around one then. I'd say Paul frequents a lot of guitar stores ! __________________ There's a dream where the contents are visible, where the poetic champions compose, will you breathe not a word of this secrecy .... |
