Reply with quote | #1 | i just love harmony singing, and Paul and Art's wonderful two-part harmonies can give me goosebumps.
which S&G performances have your favorite harmony parts?
another hard choice, but i think "Wednesday Morning" is my favorite. if you use the balance control and listen to each vocal part separately, they're amazing. in the later CD's, the two parts weren't separated like that ... i wish they had been! |

Yes Wednesday Morning shows their harmonies off the best out of all the albums. I can hear each of their voices in each ear which I can't with any other album. For such an old album the sound is incredibly clear. I was disappointed to find out they didn't have much control over that album, that basically everything about it was dictated to them and they don't consider it their first real album until the next one. It has always been close to my heart. They never sing anything from it either except for SOS. These must be Paul's most cringe-crushing songs ! Lol I can think of worse he's done to be honest. I'm sure if he knew this he'd be insulted but that's the way the cookie crumbles Paul. __________________ There's a dream where the contents are visible, where the poetic champions compose, will you breathe not a word of this secrecy .... |

I have always loved their singing on "Benedictus" - I particularly like their performance of that tune at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. __________________ "Never criticize the post office - they might just figure out where you live." Les Barker |

Reply with quote | #6 | I just listened to their live version of Benedictus at the Hollywood Bowl in 1968 and that blew me away as well. Their harmonies are to die for! |

Do you mean the song or the whole album Maggie ? I agree that album really, really showcases their harmonies like no other album did after that. __________________ There's a dream where the contents are visible, where the poetic champions compose, will you breathe not a word of this secrecy .... |

I think they deleted the stereo version soon after it was released, didn't they? I love that one, with Paul in one channel and Art in the other - try that one with headphones some time. __________________ "Never criticize the post office - they might just figure out where you live." Les Barker |
