Interesting list, as always.  "Herman Hesse" and "Nathaniel Hawthorne" are misspelled, by the way.  It also appears that Art does read to his kids with "Pinnochio," "The Black Swan," and "The Ginger Man" on the list. Or perhaps Beau and James have simply reveled in "The Economic And Social History Of Medieval Europe."  I know that one was always a favorite of my kids.

I do think it's intriguing that he was reading Maslow;  wonder what he thought of the hierarchy of needs....  I loved "All The King's Men;" Joan Didion's "The Year Of Magical Thinking" was a fascinating look at the death of a loved one; and "The Magnificent Ambersons" was a great example of early 20th Century humor.    And I can only guess what he thought of Carrie Fisher's "Wishful Drinking."

When I saw "Wishful Drinking" on his list I wondered if he read it while touring and shared it with Paul! It really was funny!

Carrie is doing her show "Wishful Drinking" in New York now at Studio 54. I wonder if Paul or Art will go. It was very funny. I am considering going again while I am New York.

Actually she talks about Paul quite a bit. Other than saying she married a short Jewish singer like her father, most of what she said was complimentary. She took the blame for most of their problems. She mentioned the songs that are about her and said " if you have a chance to have Paul write a song for you, do it because he is brilliant at it". You can say that again, sister!

It is very funny. Paul once said about her that she has a perfectly unique sense of humor.

Just ordered it - I already read 'Surrender the Pink' and I like her style and sense of humor
I'm a fan of Charles Grodin's books too by the way.

I liked "Surrender the Pink", too. I think she is a very talented writer.

This one is edgier and openly autobiographical and laugh-out-loud funny.  Eddie F suffers the worst.  And George Lucas comes off as a bit of a weirdo.

Finished reading Wishful Drinking.  I laughed at her comment to Paul -something to the effect of  "don't stand too close to me, people might think we're salt and pepper shakers."  Funny stuff.

Renie, just out of curiosity, did Art designate any books off of this new list as his 'favorite'?
