You are very observant, Barb. I guess I couldn't see if anyone wore shoes or not. Have you come back down to earth? I wish I was still there, and we were having adventures. __________________ Acts of kindness, like rain in a drought, release the spirit with a whoop and a shout- Paul Simon |

I know what you mean about seems like a dream. I have had a nice time telling people about the kids and then Paul the next night, but I was glad I got to talk to you on the phone. It is a known fact that my friend's eyes glaze over during certain topics-locally at least I have friends who like my cat or horse stories but no S&G friends-so it was good to chat for hours with you about that night and S&G. It was so much fun at the pizza place with you and Paul F. talking about S&G and concerts etc. Seemed so normal instead of the rolled eyes I get from my other friends!!! |

Reply with quote | #4 | It is very nice to have good friends who understand the feelings we have for Artie and Paul. It is cool to be able to share feelings and stories without feeling foolish. My friends at least agree that if I am going to have passion for some entertainers, I picked a good duo. Judith friends thought she had joined a cult and gone over to the darkside after the 2003 concert (my friends were doing some eye rolling, too). Now that they know me they know she didn't go over to the darkside alone, and that we are "reasonably" sane other than that one quirk.
It was such a fun adventure, Barb. I am so glad we could do it together and hope we can do it again sometime. Hey, Paul and Artie....or even Harper, we are ready anytime you are. __________________ Acts of kindness, like rain in a drought, release the spirit with a whoop and a shout- Paul Simon |

Reply with quote | #6 | Nancy why would your friends think you are going over to the darkside? I did not get that at all. Whenever I tell anyone about my renewed interest, the first thing I have to say is "Do you remember?" And most do and wonder what happened to them and do they speak to each other anymore. But the women in my age group just want to talk about their grandchildren and that's all and how busy they are with that. Everyone has stories to tell to each other. I have no children so I am totally left out. They don't think it strange, but just don't have the interest.

- I was kidding, Marfa. Our friends were just surprised by the degree of our interest in S and G and found it a little strange at first.

Whenever I tell someone I'm a huge fan of S&G and of Paul Simon, I'm always greeted with a warm smile. I have never met anyone who didn't like them, never. They might not be fans, but they all admit they are / were good. I try not to go on and on about them because I don't want to make them lose whatever respect they have for them. I save my insane rantings for the board. I have to admit, I do tend to feel a little elitist compared to friends who like other groups / artists. I feel I am part of a very sophisticated club because we like, what I consider to be, the most sophisticated and elite artists in the world. Er, I'm a musical snob, that's what I'm trying to say. Simon & Garfunkel have turned me into a musical snob. __________________ There's a dream where the contents are visible, where the poetic champions compose, will you breathe not a word of this secrecy .... |

Reply with quote | #11 | thanks Roy for the nash input-
Marcia-as a person of a quantity of years, my friends laugh and say that I am acting like a teenager and becoming a groupie-
In my defense, I must say it is easier to be a groupie as a retiree-more time and disposable funds and no parental negatives!! |

I am quite surprised how many young people know and respect them. I think we all show great taste in knowing "the BEST". __________________ Acts of kindness, like rain in a drought, release the spirit with a whoop and a shout- Paul Simon |
